Alma Itzhaky

Rappaport Prize for Young Israeli Artist
Alma Itzhaky, born in 1984, lives and works in south Tel Aviv and explores and harnesses the daily geopolitical arena for gathering scenes which she usesas the objects of her art. Itzhaky’s painting style originates from the expressionist tradition of painting which is conveyed in her paintings in the strong brush strokes and the angular and dynamic compositions. Her work also includes quotations from the history of pre-twentieth century art.
Itzhakyis a "social painter" who reflects the social and political spirit of her contemporaries. She graduated from the Program for Advanced Studies in Art at the Beit Berl College School of Art, and obtained a Master's degree in Philosophy from the Philosophy Department at the Tel Aviv University. In addition to her immersion in art, Itzhaky teaches painting at the Interdisciplinary Art Program at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design and is a lecturer of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University.
