Inbal Lieberman was appointed to the position of security coordinator of Kibbutz Nir Am about ten months before the seventh of October. In the first hours of the beginning of the attack, Inbal realized very quickly what was happening, and in a display of extraordinary bravery and courage, she armed the members of the standby squad and prepared them to fight against Hamas terrorists. Under her command, the members of the standby squad deployed in ambushes around the fence and together with the security forces who joined them, managed to prevent the terrorists from entering the kibbutz. Inbal stood the test of her life, and thanks to her resourcefulness none of the kibbutz members were hurt.



Thanks to the heroism and courage she showed during the surprise attack, and due to the extraordinary act of rescue by the kibbutz people, the award committee decided to award Inbal Lieberman the Ruth Rappaport Award for women generating change, following October 7th.
