Lifetime Achievement
Naomi Stuchiner, 72, was born in Johannesburg to the late Issie and Lucie Shapiro and has four children, 12 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

In 1970, after graduating in Social Work, she married Tuvia and made Aliya.

As a child, she learnt about the importance of personal community responsibility. Her late father, Issie Shapiro, dedicated his life towards changing the quality of life for people with disabilities.

When she immigrated, Naomi established Tel Aviv Municipality’s Community Unit in the Hatikva Neighborhood. Later, with the late Professor Davidson, she founded and managed Israel’s first Community Mental Health Unit for Shalvatta Psychiatric Hospital.
In 1980, on her father’s death, the family decided to fulfill his vision and Naomi founded Beit Issie Shapiro which has led to a revolutionary change for people with disabilities and social awareness to their needs. Today, the organization impacts annually on 500,000 children and adults with disabilities as well as professionals in Israel and abroad.

Naomi views her role as a national, social and human mission which motivates her tireless work towards strengthening the third sector through the expansion of services, collaboration with decision makers and the private sector, and international collaborations. She participates in various forums and ventures, towards the establishment of a caring and just society.
