Ruth Dayan

Rappaport Prize for Lifetime Achievement
Mrs. Ruth Dayan, born in 1917, was awarded the Rappaport Prize for Lifetime Achievement. In 1954, Mrs. Dayan founded the “Maskit” fabric and clothing company, aimed at providing places of employment for new immigrants and disadvantaged populations.
 Some of the clothing lines incorporated items of clothing traditionally worn by population groupssuch asthe Bedouin, Palestinian, Druze and Yemenite communities. In 1967, she founded the Yesh Din Council – Volunteers for Human Rights. For decades she was active in the establishment and running of many organizations which work towardsbringing about change in society.
