Prof. Yair Reisner

Prize for Senior Israeli Researcher
Prof. Yair Reisner of the Weizmann Institute of Science was awarded the Rappaport Prize for Senior Israeli Researcher for his contribution in the field of bone marrow transplants in patients for whom no suitable donor has been found. Every year thousands of people all over the world require a bone marrow transplant, but only a small number are able to find a matching donor.
Prof. Reisner invented a method for performing bone marrow transplants even on patients for whom the bone marrow donor has not been determined as a suitable match. Today Prof. Reisner’s research serves as the basis for successful methods of treatment, and his discovery has been adopted for use by many medical centers around the world.
