Naila Awwad Rashed

Rappaport Award for Longstanding achievement

Naila Awwad is a prominent Palestinian feminist activist in Israel with a Master Degree in Gender Studies from Bar Ilan University. She currently serves as the General Director of the Women against Violence Association and was also involved in former projects coordinator at WAV.


During the years of her management of the organization, since 2015, she has succeeded in promoting new and significant areas within the Palestinian society in Israel, such as women leadership in local and national politics, building infrastructures for young women involved in society, fighting crime and illegal weapons in the Arab society, establishing a joint Jewish-Arab shelter for women suffering from violence and more.

She is also engaged in the day-to-day management of the Crisis Center to support victims of violence, one of the unique centers for assisting women 24/7, and together with its staff she manages to provide assistance to thousands of women and get hundreds of women out of the cycle of violence. One of the most prominent feminists in the Arab community, Awwad worked hard as part of WAV advocacy team towards advancing women representation in decision-making positions and putting women issues on the agenda of decision makers.


Ms. Awwad is one of the leading activists in the fight against violence against women in the Arab society, against femicide, and against the police turning a blind eye.
