Prof. Lihi Adler-Abramovich

Award for a promising researcher

Prof. Lihi Adler-Abramovich is an associate professor at the School of Dental Medicine, Gray Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, where she serves as Chair of the Department of Oral Biology and Head of the Laboratory of Bioinspired Materials and Nanotechnology. She has received numerous prestigious grants and awards, including ERC Grants, and was elected a senior member of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).

Her research focuses on developing advanced biomaterials for regenerative medicine, addressing both fundamental biological questions and translational challenges in bone and skin regeneration. Working in close collaboration with clinicians, her research is guided by unmet clinical needs and aims to enable patient-customized regenerative treatments that improve tissue repair and functional recovery.

Her laboratory designs and fabricates injectable and biodegradable biomaterials that form three-dimensional scaffolds at the injury site and recapitulate key features of the native tissue environment. Inspired by the extracellular matrix, these scaffolds can be tailored to match patient-specific anatomical, mechanical, and biological requirements, guiding cellular organization and tissue remodeling. Rather than acting as passive structural supports, the materials developed in her lab dynamically interact with surrounding cells and biological signals.

The group advances 3D-printing technologies that enable the fabrication of customized scaffolds with precisely controlled mechanical, biological, and electrical properties, supporting personalized approaches to regenerative medicine.
